Minister behaving like a mafia don, say IAC members
The India Against Corruption members on Wednesday took umbrage to Law Minister Salman Khurshid’s remarks, challenging Arvind Kejriwal to lead a protest against the Minister in Farrukhabad, his constituency.
“Let him come to Farrukhabad but how will he go back,” the Minister is reported to have said in a closed-door meeting on Tuesday which was aired by some television channels. Mr. Khurshid later said he was “misquoted.”
While the Congress downplayed the remarks saying Mr. Kejriwal could go to the police if he felt threatened, the IAC members charged Mr. Khurshid with behaving like a “mafia don.”
Perceiving the Minister’s comments as a “threat to his life,” Mr. Kejriwal said at a press conference here that it did not behove well for the country’s Law Minister to use such language.
“My life is not in the hands of Salman Khurshid. It is in the hands of God. We will go to Farrukhabad and we will return from there as well,” he said in answer to a question adding that he was here for a mission and would not live for a day more when it was over.
He appealed to people to accompany him to Farrukhabad, where he will lead a protest to press his demand for the resignation of Mr. Khurshid as Law Minister in the face of alleged financial irregularities by a trust run by him.
Lawyer and IAC member Prashant Bhushan criticised Mr. Khurshid for “behaving like a mafia don.” “Does he think he is a mafia don by issuing such threats?”

If a law minister is talking of taking law into his own hands, what message will the people of this country get? What will be the fate of this country if every one starts taking law into their own hands? How can a minister be so irresponsible? It is astonishing to see that he is still allowed to occupy the post.
PM of our country is a mere spectator be it a scandal, scams or
nonsense speeches of congress ministers. Is he in no capacity to
utter a word against his own party workers or he has a habit of
staying mum on topics that deserve to be condemned.
Farrukhabad's citizens should retaliate against Salman Khurshid for bringing disrepute to Farrukhabad
Power corrupts:absolute power corrupts absolutely;
Let us hope these things come to an end in 2014.We work only with pen and not blood.BALLOT paper is the only weapon
In parliament he tries his best to speak and behave in a aristocratic way while in a closed door meeting among the people of his constituency he says such daunting and unethical statement. This shows the dualism and hypocrisy of Mr. Khurshid.
'I will work with a pen but also with blood". Such a furious statement uttered by a person none other than the country's Law Minister is highly condemnable. Mr. Khurshid should have thrown his gauntlet when Mr. Kejriwal alleged him of misappropriation of trust fund but instead he has made objectionable utterances denigrating himself. None would have forgotten about the controversial tweets the then Central Minister Mr.Shashi Tharoor made which invited nationwide protest which had ultimatley cost his post. Will the Prime Minister atleast take the stick in his hand and show the Law Minister the right way to 'out' ?
The remarks made by Mr. Kurshid, who also holds the post of Law
Minister of this country does not augur well. Only an underworld mafia
don could talk in such a language. Even assuming what Mr. Kejriwas is
saying is untrue or baseless, the intemperate language used by Mr.
Kurshid is not at all justified and it is below the dignity of the
office he holds. He has brought the office of the law ministry down
and put the Government into shame. The PM should open his mouth at
least now and seek the resignation of the Law Minister or sack him as
he has made himself unworthy of the occupying such a high post. Will
the PM act now?
Its rocking year of Congress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thay r involved in so much scam so that we forgot older one..
Daily a new scam come out ....
Whether any one remebr about CWG, 2G, CoalGate.......
Now every one's attantion on Khurshid's Haz Yatra so forgote all scames...Its new political stunt of Congress..................
After 10 years of Peace this Media did not forgot Godhara Riots, but they forgot all the recent scams by Congress
A man can be misquoted in an unrecorded interview. Several TV channels have aired a video where Salman Khurshid, the law minister of India is clearly making these statements. Also NDTV which favours the congress in general aired a fact finding video where they went to Bulandshahar to locate the disabled beneficiaries of Salman Khursheed's trust but found not even one disbled person who had got anything. One disabled man whose name wrongly appeared in the recepients' list emphatically said "Kudrat usko maaph nahi karega" (Nature will not forgive him). This minister who appeared suave, sophisticated thus far has shown his true colours. If he continues to remain as law minister then Robert Vadra was right - India is a banana republic and Indians are mango people.
Dear Fellow Indians, We have a new low here. We have an Oxford educated Law graduate who also will not hesitate to eliminate any enemy that comes across his path adopting bloodshed means if necessary. By the way, he also happens to be the Law Minister of our country, but what a pity that this job is the last on his list of priorities. What a role mode to emulate for the current and future generation of Indians . Mr Prime Minister, I hang my head in shame for the bunch of poeple that you have in your union cabinet while you must be most certainly pleased with the fantastic performances from your wards.
Even if the purported incendiary remarks were indeed made in a 'closed
door' meeting,to say the least, they are abominable and reflect the
mindset of the person, who uttered these words.Another new low,
reflecting the atmosphere of growing intolerance of the law makers of
the land to public criticisms and democratic means of activists to
expose murky deals in high places. Is the PM watching?
This minister has no right morally or ethically to stay in this position. He has to resign and we should deport him out of this country as he is not fit to even be on this soil any longer ! IAC and Arvind Kejriwal have sacrificed so much for this country and to see them being targeted its so untasteful and monstrous ! I Condemn this totally !
Alas!!! Law minister responsible for making laws for the safety and security of general public is himself behaving like a law breaker!!! If he is honest, there is no need for all these utterances. If he feels there isn't an iotoa of truth in the allegations levelled against him and the trust headed by his wife, better he challenge them in the court of law and wait for justice.
Bring Khurshid down Farrukhabadis! He is not the King, to order people. You, people, are the real King in the democracy. God
(Allah) save India from these people now. We are with you Kejrivalji. Go ahead!!
Alas! all the powers, people and organization fighting against corruption
are fighting at their own.No one is coming forward to support and strengthen the voice of others. Whereas , the corrupt people all belonging to different parties ,ideologies and interests are united to lay down by all means to the activists fighting against the corruption.Where Anna ,hopes of millions, had disappeared.May wiser counsel prevails upon all the activists and fight against the corrupt people and help this country in getting rid of all bad elements.
It is very clear that all our politician are corrupt. If kejriwalji wants to continue his fight against corruption, he must save himself from these politicians because they can go upto any level.
Is Mr. Salman Khurshid a closet fascist to threaten somebody like this?
The fact that he is the law minister of the country makes the situation all the more troubling.
He has no moral right to continue in the position. Mr. Salman Khurshid should resign as law minister of India.
It is a sad day for India! The land of Gandhi and Buddha!Violence is no
solution.Mr. Salman Kurshid has to understand that by such statements he
is undermining his own prestige. We had great expectation from a person
who claims to have his education from Oxford!
And this guy Salman Khursid is still the LAW MINSITER of India.
Yes, we really are mango people and India is indeed a banana republic.
'I will work with a pen but also with blood". Such a furious statement
uttered by a person none other than the country's Law Minister is
highly condemnable. It is nothing but a death threat given to Mr.
Kejriwal. Mr. Khurshid should have thrown his gauntlet when Mr.
Kejriwal alleged him of misappropriation of trust fund but instead he
has made objectionable utterances denigrating himself. None would have
forgotten about the controversial tweets the then Central Minister
Mr.Shashi Tharoor made which invited nationwide protest which had
ultimatley cost his post. Will the Prime Minister atleast take the
stick in his hand and show the Law Minister the right way to 'out' ?
The remarks attributed to Salman Khurshid ,if they are true then it is
quite unbecoming of and more so from the Union Law Minister. It is nothing but a threat and he will not challenge a political leader like this.
the law minister say's today that he can take law in his hand, but fact is the law is in his hand already.. what a sad irony :(
it is very difficult to believe that it is the Oxford educated grandson of Dr Zakir Hussain who has used the intolerant language against Kejriwal, the IIT Btech and IRS (Retd) person.
It is difficult for the common man to believe that the Law minister of the country could threaten the citizens of this country, the public, the real masters of the country, with such intemperate language..
Shows Mr Khurshids real colours.
Dear "The Hindu"
Request you to kindly repeat Mr. Salman Khurshid's statements in follow up news . Don't let these threatening words get forgotten.
minsiter having made such an outrageous statement ought to explai
nsatisfactorily; it will otherwise haunt the politicla scene during the
whole of the winter session; this shwos how responsible leaders behave
often creating confusion among the people and in the government. Such
events reallya ffect the development of the nantion. Because almost all
the leaders in the government are put on duty to fire fight such
aberrations.
Arvind Kejriwal was indeed looking for some threat from some politition. only by that way Arvind Kejriwal can get some (negative) importance in politics. he himself can never do any good to india.
now he won gold.
good luck Arvind Kejriwal
The threats made by the Minister are troubling. What sort of a democracy does the country have?
Well said, Arvind. The country has indded awakened to this govt's corruption. You have the
corrupt politicians of this country talk in their real language. They will fall like flys now. They
all support each other and grow and dupe this nation and tax payers. My question is, if they
gulp so much from the taxes we pay, why should we pay taxes? I think we shouldn't pay
taxes. They use all this tax money for their personal use and swindle in scams. Shame on
these ministers.
Its really a shame on the face of india, the largest democracy. Now where is mr MMS,
isnt his own minister creating an atmosphere of negativity.
To Government of India (To whom It may concern)
As a common man of India, I am writing this letter on behalf of millions of other Indian common men. Although I can include all scams that have occurred under your regime but today I will be talking about the recent one. As we all came to know about some irregularities with the funds that Mr. Khursid’s trust has collected for aiding disabled persons. There are some severe allegations against his trust and his wife who runs the organization. We don’t know the truth. We the people just get the story from the media, and based on the facts presented from both parties we the people of India judge the situation. The result of our judgment can be seen only in the form of a democratic practice what we call electing a government for us by us.
Agree completely with Pranjal Barman's comments.
The utterances by Mr. Salman Khurshid vis a vis Arvind Kejriwal's planned visit to the constituency of Farrukhabad from November 1, are gross misconduct on his part as Law Minister. He should realize that Farrukhabad is an Indian constituency
Abominable statement by a Minister ( if its true )... The only domain where we expect some
bit of morality and ethics left is the language used by our leaders....The standard of which
seems to be deteriorating with time..
The kind of language used by a person of the stature of a cabinet minister reflects nothing but the level of degradation in our political system..We need more people like Arvind Kejriwal in this country...
The next news will be, "When asked about the alleged comments on Kejriwal, the
minister clarified - I have been misquoted. What I meant by I will work with the pen,
but also with blood was, I will run blood donation camps and donate blood to
people. Nowhere is it said that the law minister should not do this." and then he will
rant on and on. All of us will write comments like this... Life will go on...God bless
India..
Agree if we have such law ministers i feel sad about my country. These people should be highly qualified and not like'Salman Khurshid'.
A disgrace that a minister is giving life threats to an activist.
Is the minster taking the people for granted? Its a brazen display of feudal and colonial mindset. If his NGO does good work then he is very happy to pose for photographs. It is the moral responsibility of Mr Kurshid to resign if his NGO is found to misuse funds.
The masses must be eagerly waiting for 2014 elections to teach such an arrogant government a lesson that could set the benchmarks of expectations from the new government.
It is bizarre that an open threat of physical action that would
result in "will not return" is not recognized as a murder threat and is not acted upon immediately. The statement was applauded by the supporters of Mr Kurshid and the statement looked like that of a rowdy gang leader. The Allahabad police is under an obligation to arrest Mr Kurshid and file a case.
I think law minister only knows the ways other than pen. We support IAC team with open heart. Lets focus on cleaning our own mess.
The Police can arrest the Minister for the threat. If proven guilty, the Law Minister can
be put in prison for up to seven years under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
Would the police take action impartially without fear?
Indian Democracy is at the lowest point,This Law Minister Khurshid should be fired as soon as possible for making such stupid statement.
If these are the statements from LAW MINISTER, then how about the local
leaders or local MLAs/MPs will do in real to hide their corruptions..
Aravind sir, much more to do.. All the best
Shame on you Ministor -Your words shows the street rowdy in you .
Many of the Congress Ministor do the same way. Remember your public servent not a King of our country. Show the dignity of the post and serve the nation , Are you law ministor or a rowdy ministor ?.
How dare are you to treat a common man who work for this nation ?.
Please be united my dear country man we should wash these boodly people out of power and investigate on each case and punish them in fornt of the publich, let that me a poof for the rest of the Ministor in this country .
Mr Kurshid should be ashamed of himself what a Law minister the country is ruled by a bunch of goons watched by Sonia and the PM. If he was from another party he would have been advised to quit after all he is congressman.
Very avoidable incident. It was not really expected from a minister of
Khurshid's level.
Is Mr.Khurshid a law minister?...Irony....He better deserves the
occupation of a goon!
This is actually a threat. They can do everything to stop him.
It is really unfortunate that we are facing the different phase of
democracy. I doubt, we live in the most corrupted countries in the world
like Morocco.Boforce, Chara, 2G, Oil, CWG, Adarsh society, Coalgate and
now the newest version of scam made by UPA & its alliance that is
"Disable the disable scam" done by Union Law Minister of India.Do we
feel proud or feel asshamed of these things,Mr.Prime Minister? Break the
silence or revolutionize the working culture of India!
If minister Khurshid did indeed make the 'work with blood' comment
attributed to him, that would be sufficient grounds for him to be
fired from cabinet. It is unconscionable and inexcusable that the
esteemed Law Minister, whose duty is to uphold the law, would threaten
the person of Mr. Kejriwal. This comes on top of Mr. Khurshid's
unbecoming behaviour in countering Mr. Kejriwal's original accusation
at the press conference on his return from England. Even if
Mr.Kejriwal's original corruption accusation was untrue, this latest
speech by minister Khurshid is not only unacceptable by any measure of
decency but is also in violation of the law. It is time for the prime
minister to act to protect any modicum of credibility left in this
government.
Mr. Kurshid.. If you are so sure of your innocence, kindly present proofs which say
so.. Beating around the bush just seems to confirm your guilt. Threats are going to
take you nowhere. Mr. Kejriwal has shown evidence against your organization.. As a
"Law" minister, shouldn't your first reaction be to reach for your file of documents
which absolve you?? Instead, after a lot of hullabaloo you throw him in jail for
protesting and when he is out you shoot out death threats.. Even a politically
unbiased person is bound to become suspicious.
"We say you hear the answers and forget about asking questions."
So we have to accept whatever Khurshid and his wife say, without ever
questioning them?
Of course it is expected that the H'ble Minister would say he was misreported. Assuming that
he does not and this is actually right, what moral right or legal right this government has to stay in power? This Minister has no faith in constitution and believes that he has dynastic right to rule India. Our PM and the real power behind the scene would ignore and move on leaving the mango people fretting and fuming in this banana republic.
Kejariwal jee has to understand real face of Indian politicians. They can go to any extent to hide corruption chargs. If this story "“I have been made the Law Minister and asked to work with the pen. I will work with the pen but also with blood,” he said at a closed-door function in New Delhi on Tuesday night, footage of which was aired by some news channels.
Referring to Mr. Kejriwal’s threat to stage a protest in his home constituency from November 1, 2012 the senior Congress leader said, “Let them come and visit Farrukhabad. But let him also return from Farrukhabad.”
" is true than the time has come for masses to decide fate of Indian democracy. Whether they want to see it known as "Banana Republic" or a "real democracy" which was dreamed by Gandhiji and would be respected by whole world. All the best to Mr. Kejariwal for his fight against top politicians.
Yesterday message of Mr Beni prasad verma indirectly admitting Minister earning huge amount of money through corruption, and today's news about verbal threat to Arvind by Law minister just because he raised the fact of misuse of taxpayers’ money suggests that there is an urgent need to overhaul the Gov. system for the growth/benefit of our country and people.
[“I have been made the Law Minister and asked to work with the pen. I will work with the pen but also with blood,” he said at a closed-door function in New Delhi on Tuesday night, footage of which was aired by some news channels].....If this is true and authentic and the Union Law Minister has indeed said those words then I don't see any reason for him to continue. He must be brought down.
