A 27-year-old person on a tour with friends drowned in the Kallada river near Thenmala after being caught in strong currents while having a bath in the afternoon on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Anderson Patrick, a resident of Tangasseri in the city. Anderson, an engineer, was employed with Aramco in Saudi Arabia and had arrived here on leave a few days ago. On Tuesday morning, he had gone with friends to the Palauruvi waterfalls. When Anderson got caught in the current, attempts by his friends to save him went in vain.

By 3 p.m. the body was fished out by the Fire and Rescue Service personnel and is kept at the Punalur Government Hospital mortuary.
