Youth Congress march turns violent

The Collectorate march by Youth Congress workers here on Tuesday to protest against the employment scam turned violent as protesters pelted stones at the police and the Government vehicles.

Windscreens of two Kerala State Road Transport Corporation buses and a van of the Health Department were smashed in the stone-throwing. Police personnel suffered injuries in the attack. The police chased the protestors and used canes to disperse the protestors. The police said that they nabbed three youths allegedly involved in the stone-pelting.

The protestors started pelting stones after Congress leader K. Sudhakaran, MP, inaugurated the march. In his inaugural speech, he said that people in the State were now aware of the depth of the irregularities in recruitments in the State.

District Youth Congress president Muhammad Blathur presided over the inauguration of the march. District secretary Joshi Kandathil was also present. A.P. Abdullakutty, MLA, Suresh Babu Elayavur, Mundery Gangadharn, K.N. Jayaraj, T.N. Jayakrishnan, Muhammad Faisal and K. Pramod participated in the march.
