World Water Day to be observed in a big way

School and college students to take water conservation pledge

With a severe drought looming large, the State Cabinet has decided to observe World Water Day on March 22 in a big way. School and college students, teaching and non-teaching staff in educational institutions, and employees in government, quasi-government and local bodies will take a water conservation pledge.

The Cabinet which met here nominated Bharat Bhavan as the nodal agency for the implementation of the programmes celebrating the 60th year of the formation of the first Ministry.

The other Cabinet decisions include deposit of ₹5 lakh in the name of the two children of Aamina who died as a result of attack of stray dogs.

The 1,200 temporary posts created in the police force for constable training will be given validity from June 1, 2016, to May 31, 2017. Another 200 posts will be created in accordance to the norms of the Finance Department.

B. Sreekumar, general manager, Kerala State Textile Corporation, has been appointed as managing director of Kerala Feeds Ltd, a State public sector undertaking, on deputation basis.
