A workshop on bird atlas, which concluded at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) headquarters at Pookode in the district on Thursday, stressed the need for public participation in biodiversity conservation.
The programme, organised by the Hume centre for ecology and wildlife biology in association with the Social Forestry division, Wayanad, and KVASU, was held in connection with the Bird Atlas project, an ongoing citizen science programme in the State. Inaugurating the programme, Collector Kesavendrakumar said the district was considered as one of the backward districts in the State but it was the richest district in biodiversity.
