Minister for Devaswoms V.S. Sivakumar has said the work on major projects aimed at improving pilgrim facilities at Sabarimala are fast progressing.
The Minister was talking to The Hindu after visiting the project sites at Sabarimala and Pampa on Saturday.
He said the Rs.1.10-crore development work on the Swami Ayyappan Road would be completed in the next two weeks. The work on the Rs.122-crore diversion road linking the Sannidhanam to the Chandranandan Road would be completed by October 31 and the beautification work on its either side would also be carried out in the next two weeks.
He said the five-km Chalakkayam-Pampa stretch of the main trunk road leading to Sabarimala would be rubberised soon at an estimated cost of Rs.1 crore.
The Triveni-Njunangar service road along the Pampa Manalpuram for transportation of goods and sick pilgrims during rush days would be completed in the next two weeks.
Mr. Sivakumar, who is also the Transport Minister, said the repair and maintenance of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus depot at Pampa would be carried out at an estimated cost of Rs.61.5 lakh.
The Minister reviewed the progress of work on the two queue complexes coming up at Saramkuthi and Sabaripeetom. Mr Sivakumar said the queue complex would be ready by November first week.
