S.K. Raina, Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad, has said that the division has issued 400 identity cards and health cards to authorised vendors to supply food on railway platforms and trains.
He told The Hindu here on Monday that “if these vendors are not allowed to work and stock food in their stalls, it is a law-and-order problem for which Railways are taking steps so that passengers do not face any hardship and will get food and water.”
He said that preventing these vendors from bringing and selling food at the railway stations was a crime which the police had to handle.
He said a meeting of the Divisional Security Commissioner and the local police was held on Monday to coordinate the efforts to solve the problem. Railways were taking steps to end hardship to the passengers.
