Women's safety campaign launched

The Kerala society should learn to respond strongly to the rising atrocities against women, national general secretary of the National Women's Front (NWF) Farida Hassan has said.

Inaugurating a State-level campaign ‘Vigil of women for safety of women' organised by NWF here on Wednesday, she said the women here did not even have the mental power to ward off a “single-handed attacker” as they had lost their confidence. NWF, through the campaign was aiming at rebuilding the lost self confidence, she said.

National vice-president A.S. Sainaba, introducing the topic, stressed the need for women to be physically and mentally strong to put an end to attacks on them. NWF State vice-president K.V. Jameela delivered the concluding speech. State president Sheeba Sageer presided over the function.

City Corporation health standing committee chairperson Janamma Kunhunni, State general secretary of NWF P.K. Ramla, district president Hamida Ashraf and SDPI district committee member Ramla Rafeeque were present, a press release said.
