Woman's death: RPF office attacked

February 07, 2011 08:06 pm | Updated July 31, 2016 03:00 pm IST - KANNUR:

Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) workers gave vent to their ire at the Railway Protection Force (RPF) office at the Kannur railway station here during their protest on Monday against the “failure of the railway authorities to ensure safety of passengers.”

The protest, triggered by the death of 23-year old girl, who was pushed down from a running train and molested, turned violent as protestors destroyed glass panes and sign boards of the RPF station around noon. Neither the RPF personnel nor the local police present there used force to disperse the mob. DYFI leaders Ajith Kumar and P. Shabareesh led the protestors.

Activists of the All India Democratic Women's Association and Sthree Vedi also staged marches to the railway station in protest.
