A 37-year-old woman civil police officer was found dead hanging in a rest room of a police station in Wayanad district on Friday morning.
The police identified the deceased as K.P. Sajini, wife of Rajendran of Nedumkarana at Mupainad in the district.
Sentry duty
Sajini was on sentry duty from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Friday at the Ambalavayal station and went to the rest room after handing over duty to a woman colleague at 4 a.m., department sources said.
She was found dead hanging from the ceiling of the rest room by the colleague around 6.35 a.m., the sources said.
The reason for the death was yet to be ascertained. However, the police found a suicide note on the deceased, which said nobody was responsible for the incident.
Probe sought
Her husband demanded a probe into the death of his wife. Speaking to the media here, Mr. Rajendran said an independent investigation alone could bring out the reason for the death.
The police appointed Kalpetta Dy.SP K. Muhammed Shaffi to investigate the case.
