Woman pilgrim dies of heart attack

A 55-year old woman pilgrim, identified as Rukmini of Kudanagar Road, Gudiyatham near Vellore in Tamil Nadu, died of cardiac arrest at the Government Hospital at Pampa on Saturday night.

The woman pilgrim who had reportedly developed severe chest pain was rushed to the Sannidhanam Government Hospital by the Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sanghom volunteers around 9 pm on Saturday. The Sanghom volunteers led by the stretcher service captain, Thanchavur Damodaran, shifted the patient to Pampa Government Hospital, later, for shifting her to Pathanamthitta General Hospital or Kottayam Medical College for advanced cardiac care, police said.

Meanwhile, the patient had suffered a cardiac arrest and succumbed to the ailment at the Government Hospital at Pampa, later, on Saturday night, police said.

The body was taken to Tamil Nadu in an ambulance, later, on Sunday, police said.
