Woman pilgrim dies of cardiac arrest

A 65-year-old woman pilgrim, identified as Karthyayani of Manjakkunnu Kollankudi in Thrissur, died of cardiac arrest at the Cardiology Centre at Appachimedu on the Pampa-Sannidhanam trekking path on Sunday.

According to police, the woman had suffered sever chest pain and fell unconscious while climbing the steep Appachimedu hill in the forenoon.

Volunteers of the Ayyappa Seva Sanghom stretcher service rushed her to the nearby Cardiology Centre where she died.

According to Mr Thanchavur Damodaran, head of the stretcher unit, this is the third cardiac casualty at Sabarimala during the past one week.
