Woman dies of burns

A woman died and another seriously injured in an accident at a fire work manufacturing centre at Mucheri near Kongad.

Shantha (37), of Vellapuram died and Neeli (50) of Chamakkunnu House sustained serious burn injuries on Tuesday afternoon.

The women were preparing the fire powder when the accident occurred. Both of them sustained serious burns.

They were rushed to a private hospital at Thrissur where Shantha had died.

According to police, the fireworks unit owned by Veerankutty Rawthar of Thottathil had no license and is. Subsequently, the police raided the fire works production centre and his house.

The Additional District Magistrate K.V. Vasudevan and other officials visited the scene of the accident.
