Yasmin Ahmed, the 30-year-old woman from Bihar who was arrested here on Monday, is understood to have confessed to the police her close association with Abdul Rashid Abdulla, one of the 17 persons from the district who had gone missing under mysterious circumstances.
Yasmin, who was brought here from Delhi, confessed to professing religious fundamental ideologies espoused by Rashid, a native of Udumbumthala, near Thrikkarippur, in the district, Superintendent of Police Thomson Jose told The Hindu on Tuesday.
Yasmin, who was booked under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act, also confessed to continuing her association with Rashid nearly two months after he went missing from his residence here, he said.
The police had received some definite clues about the whereabouts of some of the missing persons, Mr. Jose said, declining to divulge further details of the elusive persons at this stage. However, he said it was too early to assume that the missing youths, including women and children, had joined hands with the Islamic State.
