The daughter of slain Communist Party of India (Marxist) worker in Mahe Kannippoyil Babu, in a letter to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive member P.K. Krishnadas, has asked why her father was murdered by his party workers.
In the letter, copies of which were circulated among mediapersons, Anamika, 12, a native of Palloor in Mahe, said she was writing the letter in front of a shelf in her house where a memento given by the BJP leader to her slain father at a recent function in recognition of his works as a public activist was kept.
“That (memento) has no smell of my father. Instead it has the smell of blood, a smell that I have never experienced,” she wrote.
She recalled that her father had left their house to buy school uniform for her younger brother on the day he was murdered.
“Our father came home the next day covered in red cloth,” she wrote to the BJP leader.
She asked the BJP leader why her family’s happiness was extinguished.
Felicitation function
Babu had been felicitated at a function in which Mr. Krishnadas presented the memento. Recalling that function, Anamika wrote in the letter that the BJP leader had praised as exemplary the works of the Mahe bypass action committee, led by her father.
She said she was present with her mother, siblings, and her grandmother at that function. “Didn’t my father see all party workers equally? Then why, uncle, your people killed my father,” she asks in the letter.
