Western Ghats protection

January 18, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 23, 2016 01:09 am IST - PATHANAMTHITTA:

BJP State president Kummanam Rajasekharan has said the BJP has taken Western Ghats protection in all its seriousness and efforts are on to take the church leaders and members into confidence on the need to protect this environmentally-fragile zone for the posterity.

A popular platform chaired by poet Sugathakumari would be floated soon to press the Centre for a Silent Valley-model decision for the Western Ghats protection, he said.

Mr. Rajasekharan said the party had taken conservation of rivers and wetlands too very much a part of its pro-development agenda.

Conservation of Pampa, Periyar and Bharathapuzha will be taken up in the first phase of ITS action plan.
