Filmmaker Jayaraj has launched a website for booking cinema tickets. The website, www.housefullcinema.com, offers the service for theatres in towns like Kottayam, Perinthalmanna, Payyannur and Mavelikara from Saturday.
“We will be adding more towns and theatres in the coming few days and the idea is to cover the entire State eventually,” says Mr. Jayaraj, winner of six national awards.
He says he has been toying with the idea of making available tickets online for quite some time. “I have often felt many families do not come to our cinema theatres because they do want to spend a long time standing in a queue for tickets.”
The website would be offering much more than tickets, Mr. Jayaraj says. “A lot of cinema-related content will be added; already we are showing trailers of the three major current releases in Malayalam (‘Shikar', ‘Pranchiyettan and the Saint' and ‘Elsamma Enna Aankutty'). Soon we would be adding interviews and there would be space for film viewers to air their views and discuss cinema. One of the main aims behind this venture is to make people more educated about cinema.”
