Web cameras to be installed in Idukki

District Superintendent of Police A.V. George has said web cameras will be installed in all major towns and border check-posts in the district.

In a discussion with district representatives of the Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi at the district police office on Saturday, he said that with a view to preventing crime, details of

migrant labourers would be collected and steps taken against autorikshaw drivers who had no licence.

The meeting also decided to install web cameras in all business shops.

He said that in order to control open sales on road payments and on vehicles, steps would be imitated by the local police with the support of the local administration.

A traffic unit would be established at Kumily, the border town with Tamil Nadu, on the Kollam-Theni National Highway. An integrated police patrolling system would be evolved.

Traffic diversions

The advice of traffic advisory committees in municipalities would be taken for traffic diversions to avoid road congestion.

The police special branch would inquire into atrocities against the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

It would also inquire into the non-completion of houses in Adivasi colonies. Mr. George issued a directive to the special branch to visit all tribal settlements and report on exploitations and financial irregularities within 10 days.
