Two swords, seven iron rods and a knife were found from a spot near the district committee office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on Tuesday.

The police said the rusted weapons were found from a plot adjacent to the compound of the rented house functioning as district office of the BJP. The police said the weapons were first found by cleaning workers of the Kannur Corporation in the morning. The police then searched nearby areas with a sniffer dog in search for more weapons.

BJP district president P. Sathyaprakash said the weapons could have been planted there to malign the BJP. They were unearthed after some cleaning workers of the Corporation reached there for cleaning. At a press conference here, he said the BJP had no need for keeping weapons at its district committee office.
