The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) on Wednesday refuted the claims of AMMA president Innocent that there was no casting couch in film field now. “We disagree with Innocent’s comment that there is no sexual harassment in the film field. The cinema sector also reflects the gender discriminations existing in society. Many newcomers face exploitation as the hegemonic power structures are so strong in the field. Of late, some of our colleagues have openly spoke about casting couch.”
The WCC expressed its hope that the Justice Hema Commission will investigate the issue.
