Decentralised waste collection centres in Thrissur soon

The Thrissur City Corporation will set up decentralised collection centres for organic waste in corporation areas.

Therambil Ramakrishnan, MLA, inaugurated the first collection centre set up at Kokkale.

The collection centre has a capacity of 600 kg. The waste collected at the centre will be treated at the organic waste convertor at Shakthan Nagar. For this, the capacity of the organic convertor has been increased to eight tonnes. The organic manure produced at the centre will be sold to the public.

In the second stage, such centres will be set up at West Fort and North Bus Stand.

The cost of the project will be Rs. 80 lakh. Mayor Rajan Pallan presided.

Meanwhile, a mobile waste treatment system will be set up for apartments in the city. The vehicles with waste treatment facilities will collect and treat waste from apartments.
