Leader Of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has taken a critical look at the latest round of reshuffling of subjects for judges in the Kerala High Court and said the current reshuffling, though part of a normal procedure, will create suspicion in the minds of people since two judges who are hearing the case related to the solar scam are also among those who have been shifted. Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a State conference of the Cable TV Operators’ Association here on Friday, Mr. Achuthanandan alleged that the police who investigated the scam had watered down the case. Those who approached the court were those who had felt cheated. The hearing of the case, so far, had generated the impression that the court would ensure justice to them.
The Leader of the Opposition cautioned the higher courts to be vigilant against actions that may lead to the people losing faith in the judiciary. Mr. Achuthanandan also came down on Rural Development Minister K.C. Joseph for his remarks against the court in the solar scam case. Mr. Joseph had criticised the court whenever the Single Bench hearing the case raised criticism against the government, he said.
