VS to inaugurate LDF’s ‘Vikasana Munnetta jatha’ on Feb 18

Ahead of the ensuing elections to the State Assembly in the State, the ruling Left Democratic Front is launching its statewide march from the district on February 18 as part of highlighting its achievements in host of development projects and to emphasise the need to have stable governance.

The ‘Vikasana Munnetta Jatha’ by the Front constituent parties would be inaugurated by Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan at Hosangadi near Manjeshwaram at 03.00 PM as the march led by Communist Party of India leader and State Civil Supplies Minister C Divakaran, would culiminate at Thrissur on March 2, CPI (M) District Secretary K P Sathish Chandran said on Saturday.

State Ministers M A Baby and Ramachandran Kadannappally would accompany the march while various LDF constituent member party leaders including Uzhavoor Vijayan, A A Aziz would represent their organisations in the march.

A public reception to the march would be held at Cherkala on the same day. Similar meets would be held at Chattamchal, Kanhangad and Thrikaripur in the district the following day before it enters Kannur district on February 20.

A similar march led by State Home and Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan would set out from Thrissur to Vattiyurkavu in Thiruvanathaparam, he said.
