After a long gap, party veteran and Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan returned to meetings of the party State secretariat here on Tuesday.
Mr. Achuthanandan joined the other Central and State leaders as the CPI(M) State secretariat met here to take stock of party matters, including the party Polit Bureau’s decision to appoint a six-member commission to go into issues that have been troubling the party for long.
The secretariat would continue its meeting on Wednesday.
The party State committee would meet for two days from Thursday, with party general secretary Prakash Karat helping the State leadership’s deliberations forward.
Meanwhile, the three staff members of the Leader of the Opposition, his additional private secretary, V.K. Sasidharan, press secretary, K. Balakrishnan, and personal assistant, A. Suresh, have made it clear that they did not wish to go in appeal against the central committee decision to expel them from the party.
They are likely to tender their formal resignations from the posts they hold now in the coming few days.
