Kerala Congress (M) leader and government Chief Whip P.C. George said here on Saturday that CPI(M) leader V.S.Achuthanandan should disclose the names of those in the Left Democratic Front (LDF) who he alleged were trying to dislodge him from the post of Leader of the Opposition.

Mr. George was referring to the statement by the Opposition leader that the land assignment case foisted on him was the outcome of a conspiracy hatched by Chief Minster Oommen Chandy and Minister for Industries P.K. Kunhalikutty.

At a press conference, the Chief Whip said the statement of Mr. Achuthanandan had created serious doubts among the people.

He should disclose who he had referred to in his statement. In fact, the CPI(M) Polit Bureau should discuss the statement, he added.

CBI probe

Mr. George said Mr. Achuthanandan should face the CBI probe ordered by the government into the allegation of corruption by the previous LDF government in its decision to entrust the contract for managing the State Information Infrastructure to Reliance Communication Infrastructure Ltd.

The Chief Whip alleged that despite opposition from the then Industries Minister Elamaram Karim, Mr Achuthanandan had decided to award the contract to Reliance company. Mr. Karim had recommended that it be given to KELTRON.

Mr. George also welcomed the recent decision of the UDF government to entrust the contract for the operation and maintenance of the SII to the KELTRON.
