Voter registrations in Kerala have gone fully online. Citizens can now register as voters without going to the taluk or other offices.

The facility is being offered at where the users will be prompted fill in the necessary application. The booth level officer would personally deliver the electoral identity card to the applicant within a short while.

Official sources said that application for inclusion in voters list, change of address and other modification to the card could now be done online. Only objections to applications for inclusion in voters’ list would have to be made manually.

The online registration could now be done through about 2500 akshaya kendras for a nominal fee or from the comfort of one’s home free of charge. Free service is also being provided to citizens reaching taluk offices or collectorates. Registrations can also be done through any Internet café or kiosks.

The Chief Electoral Officer held an all-party meeting on Thursday to consult political parties on rationalisation of the polling booths based on the revised voters’ list. Efforts will be made to see that a booth would be available to voters within a reasonable distance.
