In a rare initiative involving employees of the Revenue Department in Palakkad district, a feature film that dwells deep into the district’s unique traditions is getting ready for release. The 2.15-hour-long film, titled Vikalpam , will be released across the State in the second week of April.
Directed by Radhakrishnan Pallath, the film revolves around tensions in family relationships in a rapidly urbanising world. It vividly portrays the growth of Palakkad from being a backward agricultural village. Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Pallath said the film also looks into the existential questions facing children who are forced to move into urban environment from rural households. It also portrays problems facing differently-abled children and their rehabilitation.
The story and screenplay are by Saraswathy Peringottukurissy. Revenue employee Santhosh Kesav sings with P. Jayachandran for the film, while physically-challenged journalist Jagadeesh appears in guest role.
