The two-month-long season of Vallasadya at the Sree Parthasarathy Temple at Aranmula came to a close on Tuesday.
Vellappally Natesan, Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary, inaugurated the feast by serving the feast to the snakeboat crew immediately after the Utchapuja at the temple.
K. Sivadasan Nair, MLA; N. Vasu, Commissioner, Travancore Devaswom Board; K.V. Sambadevan, president, Palliyoda Seva Sanghom; Ratheesh R. Mohan, secretary, and Mohanachandran, treasurer, were present on the occasion.
Hundreds of devotees turned up to partake of the sumptuous feast held on the temple premises.
The feast held on the last day of the season was offered to the crew of seven Palliyodams (snakeboats) of Venpala, Edasserimala-East, Thekkemuri, Thekkemuri-East, Maramon, Keezhcherimel, and Ponnumthottom.
The oarsmen were accorded a rousing reception in the forenoon. They went around the temple, singing Vanchippattu, rhythmic songs in praise of Lord Parthasarathy.
As it being the custom, Nirapara (a measure of paddy), betel leaves, tobacco and areacanuts were placed before the golden temple mast by the devotees as offerings to the presiding deity.
According to sources, a total of 425 Vallasadya were held at the temple during the past 65 days.
