The theatre can be used as an effective platform for raising the voice of voiceless people, eminent theatre person Mangai has said.

She was speaking after inaugurating a two-day seminar on ‘Theatre: Theory and Practice’ at Sree Kerala Varma College here on Wednesday.

The theatre can bring out many positive changes in society, she added.

Theatre persons including Chandradasan, Deepan Sivaraman, Shibu S. Kottaram and Raja Rajeswari presented papers at the seminar. Ramachandran Mokeri, former director of the School of Drama, delivered a lecture.

‘Avathar’, a play by Nireeksha Theatre, Thiruvananthapuram, was staged on Thursday.

The English Department of Sree Kerala Varma College in association with the Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Akademi organised the programmes.
