UDF patch-up a ploy to hoodwink people: NSS

The Nair Service Society (NSS) has expressed misgivings about the hype over the patch-up in the Congress between Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

Talking to mediapersons who met him after his talks with Kerala Congress (B) chairman R. Balakrishna Pillai who called on him on Thursday, NSS general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair said the talks on Wednesday (between Mr. Chennithala and Mr. Chandy) were an eyewash to hoodwink the people. “We believe they are poles apart,” he said.

Mr Pillai, who was also present, said in reply to a question that he was not 100 per cent confident about an amicable settlement in his party. Mr. Pillai said his son and Minister for Forests K.B. Ganesh Kumar would have to adhere to the formula discussed during the talks with United Democratic Front leaders.

“If he fails, he would have to change his chair,” Mr. Pillai said when asked what would be the consequence if Mr. Kumar refused to stick to Mr. Pillai's demands.
