Finance Minister K.M. Mani has said that he has no intention to become the Chief Minister of the State. Talking to presspersons on his arrival at Chathannur near here on Thursday to lay the foundation stone of the Saphalyam Housing Scheme, Mr. Mani said the United Democratic Front (UDF) government did not face any threat.
He said that reports regarding his party colleague and Water Resources Minister P.J. Joseph had secret parleys with Left Democratic Front (LDF) leaders were totally baseless.
Earlier, after laying the foundation stone for the housing scheme, he said the government was considering a project to offer financial support to renovate dilapidated houses of the economically weaker sections.
The aim of the government was to provide houses to all. Having an own roof was the right of every citizen.
The Saphaylam scheme was one of the programmes to achieve that goal. At Chathannur, 48 families would be accommodated in three-storey apartments.
The construction cost of each apartment is Rs.3.5 lakh out of which the beneficiary has to spend only Rs.25,000. .
