UDF, LDF win two each in Pathanamthitta

Rejani Pradeep elected municipal chief

: Rejani Pradeep of Congress has been elected the chairperson of Pathanamthitta municipality at municipal council meeting held here on Wednesday.

P.K. Jacob of Kerala Congress (M) is the new municipal vice-chairman in Pathanamthitta.

The Left Democratic Front candidate, T.K. Sathi, has been elected the maiden municipal chairperson of the newly formed Pandalam municipality when all the seven members of the the Bharatiya Janata Party abstained from voting on Wednesday. D. Raveendran of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is the municipal vice-chairman.

In the 33-member civic body, the LDF has got 15 members while the UDF and BJP having a strength of 11 and seven members respectively.

K.V. Varghese of Congress has been elected the new chairman of the 39-member Thiruvalla municipality on Wednesday. Aeliyamma Thomas of the UDF is the new vice-chairperson.

In Adoor, where the UDF and LDF have got 13 and 14 members respectively in the 28-member municipal council, Shiny Jose of the LDF was elected the civic body chief with the support of the independent member, G. Prasad, on Wednesday.

Mr Prasad was elected the municipal vice-chairman.

The Left Democratic Front candidate T.K. Sathi has been elected the maiden municipal chairperson of the newly formed Pandalam municipality.
