UDF hartal total in Idukki

The dawn to dusk hartal called by the United Democratic Front (UDF) in the district on Saturday waspeaceful and total.

The hartal was called in protest against, what the UDF termed, the State government’s bid to close down the Government Medical College, Idukki.

Shops and business establishments remained closed and private and KSRTC buses did not operate.

Private vehicles were seen on the roads. UDF workers blocked vehicles at main towns Attendance was thin at government offices and a holiday was declared for educational institutions.
