The United Democratic Front (UDF) has called for a dawn-to-dusk hartal in the Adoor Assembly constituency on Friday.

This is in protest against the attack on a Youth Congress march to the General Hospital in Adoor town allegedly by a group of Democratic Youth Federation India (DYFI) activists on Thursday.

Five injured

Five Youth Congress activists have been injured in the attack.

They have been admitted to a private hospital at Adoor.

Condemning the attack on the march, District Congress Committee president Babu George alleged that the DYFI activists had attacked a silent march taken out by the Youth Congress without any provocation.

The Youth Congress activists took out the march in view of the visit of Health and Family Welfare Minister K.K. Shylaja to the General Hospital.

The Minister visited the hospital to take stock of the facilities at the hospital.

The Adoor police registered a case.
