The KSRTC Workers' Federation has said that it would not cooperate with the one-day strike called by the CITU in Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).
In a statement here on Monday, union president K.P. Kosala Ramadas said the CITU had done nothing during the five years of the LDF rule in the State to win justice for KSRTC employees. The strike announced by the CITU was just a political gimmick, he said.
He alleged that the CITU was betraying the empanelled employees by raising the demand for confirming the services of those who had worked as empanelled employees for eight years. This was a wrong demand. Instead, the demand should be for confirming the services of all empanelled employees who had completed 240 days of duty.
He also said the CITU should have joined hands with the other unions in the KSRTC for a joint agitation to persuade the government and the KSRTC management to concede all the long-pending demands of the employees.
The AITUC-affiliated Kerala State Transport Employees' Union also announced on Monday that it would not join the strike.
In a separate statement, the union said it would stage a dharna in front of Transport Bhavan here and at the main bus stations in the State on Tuesday to press various demands, including pay revision.
