Two persons, including a retired CRPF official, were killed when the two-wheeler they were riding, was hit by a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus at Haripad around 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to police, retired CRPF sub-inspector P. Yashodharan (60), and his relative, T. Paraman (70), were on their way to a temple. They were killed on the spot when a speeding KSRTC Volvo bus rammed into them from behind. The bus sped away without stopping, but the Kayamkulam police, following a wireless message from the Haripad police, took the bus into custody at Kayamkulam an hour later.

The bodies were kept at the Haripad Taluk Hospital before being handed over to relatives for cremation later in the day. The Haripad police have registered a case and are investigating.
