Two girls were found dead on the Pattakadavu course of Ashtamudi Lake on Wednesday morning.

The 15-year-old girls were classmates and studying in X standard at a school at Sasthamcotta. They were reported missing since Tuesday evening and their parents had lodged complaints with the Sasthamcotta police. The girls hailed from Sasthamcotta and Muthpilakkad. The schoolbags of the girls were found on the banks of the lake. The police found a note in one of them which mentioned about being scolded by parents and teachers for going to watch a film at a theatre. After inquest, the bodies were sent to the Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, for post-mortem examination.
