T.V. Rajesh released from jail

Democratic Youth Federation of India State secretary T.V. Rajesh¸ MLA, remanded in the Central Jain in the Shukkoor murder case, was released on Wednesday following the High Court’s granting of bail on August 21.

Large number of Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers led by party leaders gathered outside the jail to receive Mr. Rajesh who came out of the prison at around 2 a.m. He had surrendered before the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court – 1 here on August 13. The court had remanded him for 14 days. He was charged under section 118 of the Indian Penal Code which relates to punishment for concealing design to commit an offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life.

CPI(M) district secretary P. Jayarajan, who had also been arrested on August 1 and charged under section 118 in the case, is still in jail as he had not been granted bail by the High Court earlier.

CPI(M) and DYFI leaders including M.V. Jayarajan, James Mathew, MLA, K.P. Sahadevan, M. Surendran, A.N. Shamseer, P. Santhosh and P.P. Divya were present outside the jail to receive him. Mr. Rajesh was garlanded by the leaders. He then went to address the party workers laying siege to the Collectorate in the afternoon.
