Triple murder accused brought to Kottayam

He allegedly came to Kerala toclear his debt of Rs. 2 lakh

Police have said that the triple murder at Parampuzha where three members of a family were killed on May 16, was a meticulously planned cold blooded murder executed with the motive of taking cash and jewellery to pay back his debt back home.

‘Admitted to crime’

Speaking to media persons on Sunday evening at Manarcadu police station, V.U. Kuriakose, DySP Kanjirappally, who led the investigation teams, said the accused, Narendra Kumar (26) of Ambedkar colony, Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, had admitted to the crime, making it clear that he had committed it on his own.

He was taken to New Delhi and was brought to Kochi by air from where he was brought to Kottayam.

He was produced before the Kottayam Judicial First Class Magistrate and was remanded to custody for further investigation.

Brutal murder

It was on the night of May 16 that Lalason who ran a dry cleaning centre at Parambuzha, his wife Presanna Kumari and son Praveen Lal were found brutally murdered inside their house.

The police said that Mr Kumar who had a debt of Rs. 2 lakh arrived in Kerala with the intention of making money.

He had seen the job advertisement placed by the deceased Praveen Lal for the family-run dry cleaning centre. The advertisement was pasted on the wall near a Bevco outlet in the town.

He joined duty immediately and gained the confidence of not only the family members but also of other employees at the centre.

On the day of the crime, he hacked Praveen from behind while the latter was having his drinks.

He later called in the parents under the pretext of attending to a client and killed them both.

He then collected the jewellery and cash from the house and left for the Kottayam Railway station by an autorickshaw.

He then went to Thiruvananthapuram and from there to Mumbai via Goa. From Mumbai he went Firozabad via Agra.

According to Mr. Kuriakose, the investigation was basically by tracking the mobile signals from the stolen mobile phone in his hand.

He was trapped with the help of the UP Police, Pampady CI Saju Varghese, Ponkunnam CI R. Jose, Kanjirappally CI R. Madhu, Manarcad SI P.C. John, Special squad members SI P.V. Varghese, O.M. Sulaiman, M.M. Mathew, senior civil police officers K.S. Abhilash, Shibukuttan were among those in the team.

The accused worked at the dry cleaning centre run by the victims and gained confidence of the family and other employees.
