Hundreds of members of the Kerala Tribal Promoters and Health Promoters Association took out a march and staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Wednesday raising a number of demands.
Inaugurating the dharna, Balan Poothadi, State vice-president, National Adivasi Federation (NAF), said that as many as 1,025 tribal promoters had been working for the overall development of the tribal communities in the State but the successive governments were yet to give them job security.
Honorarium
Every year, their employment contract would be renewed and each tribal promoter was getting an honorarium of just Rs.4,000 a month, he said.
The government should hike the honorarium to Rs.15,000 a month and ensure their job security, Mr. Balan said. NAF district president K.R. Balan presided over the function.
