August 31, 2010 08:22 pm | Updated 08:22 pm IST - KOTTAYAM:

The one-day training programme on REACH regulations, planned by the Rubber Board for rubber product manufacturers and exporters, has been postponed.

In a press release, the Rubber Board has informed that the training programme that was originally scheduled for September 7 has been postponed to September 15. The last date for the receipt of applications for the training has also been extended to September 9.

REACH is the new European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use in rubber industries. The manufacturers and exporters of rubber products and chemicals to the European Union will have to abide by the regulation.

The aim of REACH is to improve the protection of human health and the environment. It includes early and accurate identification of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances used in various production processes. This regulation imposes greater responsibility on the industries to manage the risk from chemicals and to provide safety information about the substances used.
