Barely half an hour before the Allahabad High Court is expected to deliver verdict on the disputed land around the demolished Babri Mosque in Ayodhya, shops and business houses in the town have downed shutters and vehicles slowly kept off the roads.

The traders might have begun closing their shops while buses have slowly begun to keep off from the roads in the town as people opted to remain indoors anticipating possible trouble following the verdict on the vexed issue, according to police sources here.

No untoward incidents have been reported so far, they said.

Kasaragod town had been remaining tense on the Babri Mosque demolition anniversary day on December 6 with vehicles being targeted by miscreants from nearby areas of the town.

Police have beefed up security by deploying five companies of police personnel numbering 450 and strengthened security by intensifying patrolling and police picketing in sensitive localities around the town, police said.
