Kerala Tourism's official travel site has been awarded the prestigious PATA Gold Award 2010 for the best website.

The PATA awards honour industry stakeholders who have made outstanding contributions to the development and promotion of travel and tourism across the Asia Pacific region. The 2010 PATA awards attracted 200 entries from 80 organisations and individuals worldwide.

The PATA Gold Awards 2010 will be presented on September 17 at the PATA Travel Mart in Macau.

“The website is integral to Kerala Tourism's worldwide marketing effort to promote Kerala's amazing holiday experiences to the world,” Tourism Secretary V. Venu said.

The site attracts one million visits each month and is the digital centrepiece of the marketing activities around the world, so to receive the award is a great honour, Dr. Venu added.

The new version of the site features inspirational content about travelling to Kerala and the variety of exciting experiences the destination offers, drawing upon new technology, a fresh design and a more user-friendly experience for the visitors, Tourism Director M. Sivasankar said.

Since its inception in 1998, continues to be the favourite online gateway for travellers. The site is currently available in English, Hindi, French, German, Chinese, Italian and Spanish, besides select content in Malayalam. Designed and maintained by Invis Multimedia, it currently receives around 4 million hits, with over 1,00,000 visitors and 5,00,000 page views a month.
