Tight security for Thrissur Pooram

Festival zones demarcated for better surveillance by police

: The city police have put in place strict security measures for Thrissur Pooram.

Traffic will be regulated in and around the city between 7 a.m. on Sunday and Monday noon. Parking of vehicles has been restricted on Swaraj Round. Vehicles should be parked at Kolothumpadam, Indoor stadium, Pallithamam ground and Sakthan Nagar.

A strong police force with 2,500 civil police officers, 250 SIs, 54 CIs, and 25 Dy SPs has been deployed in the city. In addition to this, the services of 150 women civil police offers also will be available.

The Swaraj Round has been divided into four segments and Thekkinkadu maidan into five zones. Each zone and segment will be under the charge of Dy SPs. Around 250 police personnel have been deployed for traffic regulation. Control rooms, mobile patrolling and foot patrolling have been arranged.

40 CCTV cameras

The police have set up 40 CCTV cameras. Shadow police and bomb squads have been kept ready. Special facilities have been arranged for the passengers at Thrissur and Poonkunnam railway stations. Special ticket counters have been set up. Trains have been given special stop in Thissur on Pooram days.
