Tie-up between ports on the anvil

June 27, 2014 02:35 am | Updated 02:35 am IST - KOLLAM:

The Ports Department is working out a tie-up between the V.O. Chidambaranar (Tuticorin) Port Trust and the Kollam Port.

Director of Ports P.I. Shiek Pareeth had telephonic talks with Tuticorin Port Trust chairman S. Anantha Chandra Bose last week.

On Thursday, Assistant Director of Ports Hari H. Warrier and Kollam Port Officer Ashwin Kumar left for Tuticorin for talks. If the talks succeed, export and import consignments to and from Kollam, mainly cashew, reaching the Tuticorin port could be despatched by sea.
