The CPI(M) State committee has chalked out a schedule for the meeting of organisational units, ahead of the Party Congress to be held in Hyderabad in April 2018.

The party State committee meeting which concluded here on Friday decided to hold the State conference in Thrissur from February 22 to 25. The branch committees, local committees, and area committees will meet from September 15 to December 15. The district conferences are scheduled from December 26 to January 21.

Party State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told the media here on Friday that family members of party workers would participate in the branch committee meetings. Directions had been issued to ensure proper representation for youth and women at the meetings.

The party area committees will be expanded from 19 to 21 members and unit secretaries who have served three terms will be replaced.

The State committee finalised a series of agitations to be spearheaded by the CPI(M) in Kerala. On August 26, the party is scheduled to organise a public get-together at 2,000 centres across the State as part of a national-level agitation demanding waiver of agricultural loans and better support price for crops and to highlight the NDA government’s push for disinvestment of public sector units.

On September 1, CPI(M) workers will take out rallies against imperialism in all taluks. The party is organising a meeting of Communist and Left leaders from Asian countries in Kochi on August 23 and 24.

The State committee meeting decided to organise a sustained campaign against the Centre’s negligence towards Kerala.
