Three students killed in accident

Three students on a two-wheeler died of injuries sustained in a road accident at Kankol, near Payyannur, here on Tuesday. The three were identified as Sudhin, Yadhuraj, and Vipin Vijayarajan. While Sudhin and Yadhuraj, hailing from Kankol, were Plus Two students studying at Mathil Higher Secondary School and Cherukunnu Higher Secondary School, respectively, Vipin, hailing from Munnar in Idukki district, was a final year B.Sc. student at a college in Chennai.

The police said the accident occurred when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a car at around 1 p.m. The three were knocked down and sustained serious head injuries. They were taken to a hospital at Payyannur, but were declared dead on arrival.

The bodies have been kept at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital for the post-mortem examination. The police said the three were on their way to meet a friend at Kankol when the accident occurred.
