: The police said unidentified persons tried to loot a bank and a jewellery shop in the heart of the city on Sunday night. The thieves gained entry into the building, in which Ayodhya Jewellery and South Indian Bank function, on M.O. Road by drilling a hole in the wall. However they could not break open the lockers of the jewellery and bank.

The thieves damaged the CCTV. The police suspect involvement of more than one person in the attempted theft.

A police team, led by City police Commissioner K.G. Simon, is conducting investigations. Fingerprint experts inspected the spot. — Staff Reporter
