The Hindu opens information centre at Pampa

The Hindu group of publications has opened an Information Centre at Pampa at the foothills of Sabarimala, commemorating the annual Mandalam-Makaravilakku festival that began at the Lord Ayyappa Temple on Monday.

The Melsanthi at the Pampa Ganapati Temple, N.Kesavan Potti of Sivasre Neela Madhom at Kochani, lighted the ceremonial lamp as part of the inaugural function in the forenoon.

Mr T.R.Ravi Chandran, Deputy Regional Manager, The Hindu, Thiruvananthapuram, Mr K.S.Prabhakumar, senior sales executive and Mr T.Makarajyoti, customer relations officer were also present.

As many as four crore Ayyappa devotees from different parts of the country and abroad visit the sacred grove on their annual pilgrimage to the forest shrine during the two-month long season. All publications of The Hindu group are on sale at the centre at a seasonal discount of 10 per cent.

The information centre also showcases a mini exhibition, giving a brief description on the 131-year old history of The Hindu, its quality production mechanism, steady growth rate and achievements among muche else, to visitors.
