Tharoor must resign: BJP

January 06, 2015 07:06 pm | Updated November 17, 2021 01:03 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

BJP state president V. Muraleedharan said here on Tuesday that Shashi Tharoor should resign as Member of Parliament as the Delhi Police had confirmed that the death of his wife was a murder.

He said the Congress should apologise to the people for fielding him as its candidate from Thiruvananthapuram and pave way for mid-term election from the constituency.

He recalled that the BJP had expressed the doubt that the death of Sunanda Pushakar was a murder immediately after her death. However, Mr. Tharoor and the Congress said it was a natural death and the party fielded Mr. Tharoor as its candidate. Doubts had lingered, but the Congress had sought to whitewash Mr. Tharoor, Mr. Muraleedharan said.
